Effect of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles on the storability of onion (Allium cepa L.) seeds under ambient condition

TiO2 nanoparticles are highly stable, eco-friendly in nature, having low cost, act as a photo catalyst also antimicrobial properties. Considering the effect of on seeds, study was conducted during March 2022 to June at Department Genetics and Plant Breeding, SHUATS, Prayagraj (U.P). In this onion seeds variety Nasik Red N-53 were collected investigate seedling characters well biochemical under storage ambient conditions. Onion treated with different concentration (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 130 140 ppm) along control stored two containers; viz. tin container (C1) aluminum foil pouch (C2). All parameters evaluated every month storage. The experiment factorial CRD 4 replications. experimental result showed that containers influenced onion. Seeds (C2) exhibited highest germination per cent (52.93 %), speed (3.76), root length (2.27 cm), shoot (4.11 (6.38 fresh weight (0.176 gm), dry (0.0205 seed density (1.025 gm/cm3), dehydrogenase activity (0.213 OD/g mL), catalase (0.0220 nmol/min/mg protein) lowest moisture (8.05 %) electrical conductivity (0.970 dS/m) compared end 3 months Seed @40ppm (T4) for 2 hours performed better terms parameters; (58.5 (4.20), (3.06 (4.58 (7.64 (0.222 (0.0259 (1.056 (0.337 (0.0375 recorded (8.04 (0.951 after concluded @40 ppm can be used expand storability condition.
